It’s time for President Obama to follow Gov. Cuomo’s lead
Gov. Cuomo led in New York on marriage equality. If the President won’t do so himself, he should endorse and work to pass Sen. Feinstein’s Respect for Marriage Act, which would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Otherwise, couples married in New York and other states have no federal rights.

Dear President Obama:
The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) enforces inequality at the federal level by preventing married gay and lesbian couples from enjoying the same federal burdens and benefits as other married people do. And it prevents states from exercising their rights.
You have stopped enforcing DOMA cases in the courts. Now please endorse Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Respect for Marriage Act today.
Governor Cuomo showed how the chief executive can lead and win. Please do the same.
Respectfully,
Cleve Jones
