Action alert

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

What I’m hoping I can get going.

Get at least 15 or more people in bi-national relationships

We go to INS in lower NYC

Try to file to sponsor our partner into the country

When turned down go to, Chuck Schumer, and Gillibrand offices, along with Steve Israel’s office

Have gay and straight news people there, along with Michelangelo Signorile from Sirius radio

Along with that a group in SF, so you can go to Nancy Pelosi’s office after

Its time has come and gone for us to do some kind of action!

The more people we can get the better it would be.

I’m supposed to be living in a fair and just country, I’m supposed to be living in a country that has equal rights for all of its citizens, I’m supposed to be living in a country that perches civil rights to the world but doesn’t give civil rights or equal rights to all of its own citizens. I’m supposed to be living in a country that spares its citizens pain and suffering but doesn’t.
For the last 6 years I have been fighting to get my husband into this country after being lied to by an American embassy and no one in this country cared. Lied to by the vic. Council of your embassy in KL Malaysia also I have been lied to by the State department Malaysian desk, lied to by at that time Senator Hilary Clinton, that nothing can be done when she could have. I will give her one credit she did send one e-mail just like Congressman Peter King did.
Dealing with the US government the last 6 plus years has been like dealing with the Marks brothers, three stooges, with Saddam Hussein and Bin Laden not to leave out of the mix bigots like John McCain. The US government and the Presidency has been nothing short of inept of any problems with its gay immigration policies, it’s student visa policy and how American embassies handle visas, point taken the last terrorist that was granted a visa, I’m surprised that am embassy hasn’t given Bin Laden a visa or maybe they did.
I have been demanding some kind of action be taken from my President, my Congressman and my Senator but like always nothing is ever done! My government could care less about its gay citizens and its immigration policies. My President seems to be all talk along with my senator and who knows about Peter king he doesn’t answer e-mails, faxes or personal visits into his office.
My husband has one more college course to finish up his 4 year degree that he had to do in a loving country Canada, not like the US who didn’t even read over all of his paper work, didn’t call the Gulfport police department didn’t double check with the airlines, or my husband’s embassy. My husband wants to finish up in New York City and then go onto his master’s degree. He wants to be able to live with me drive his car and play with his dog.
Instead my government wants to keep us apart, drive me into leavening this country for good all because we are a gay couple waiting for a bill called the Uniting American Families act to be passed. Everyone knows that Nancy Pelosi will not bring it out of committee till the Latino cactus is made happy. That’s a well known fact now. I have to wait till all the Illegal immigrates get green cards before gay taxpaying US citizens’ gets rights?
I am demanding that the White house call the American embassy and ask for a special visa for my husband can get back into this country, I’m demanding that my Senators from New York call the American embassy asking for a special visa so my husband can get back into this country and I’m demanding that my state congressmen call the American embassy telling them to grant a special visa. I know for a fact that if a senator or congressman wanted to they could write a special bill, but my government is so inept they could care less about its gay citizens. They might support the Uniting American families act but that’s as far as their support goes.
I’m demanding action now as a US citizen!

Once again I turn on the news and see children being brought into this country with special visas, from humanitarian visas to emergency visas, plus plane loads of people leavening Haiti. Along with Governors getting special landing permission to bring out children getting special emergency visas and I can’t get my husband a visa to get into this country what is wrong with this picture?
I want something done about this; I want all visas stopped till I can get my husband into this country. This is so un-American that you would let US citizens suffer when you take care of the rest of the world.
Every one that knows me knows that I’m a bleeding heart liberal, but I’m so upset that my government cares more about other people then taking care of its own. My hart does go out to the people of Haiti and other countries but this giving out visas like water has got to stop till you take care of your own! I’m talking about the Uniting American families act.
My senator supports the uniting American families act, but that’s as far as she will go, senator chuck Schumer supports the UAFA but that’s as far as his help will go. I can’t get an answer from Peter King ever! Who knows about Hilary Clinton she doesn’t answer her mail asking for her or the state department for help. Nancy Pelosi can bring it out of committee but she doesn’t want to! The new immigration bill will just about give 12 million illegal immigration a free ride for a green card but I can’t get a visa for my husband.
We are legally married in Canada, that’s right a country that understands peoples rights, but illegal immigrants have more rights than tax payers in this country? Now my husband has rights being married to an American! I don’t care about DOMA, that means noting and I do mean nothing to me or people that are legal married in other countries because the United States is so far behind the times! With or without the Uniting American families act I want my husband in this country in the next two weeks and not hearing none stop on TV that people have a free ride into this country. All my paper work is on file with Assembly man’s Sweeny, senators chuck schemers office, senators Gellibrand’s office, and Congressman Peter kings office, Congressman Steve Israel’s office, no one is willing to write a special bill or call the embassy and ask them to grant a visa. What is wrong with this I do pay my taxes I was born in this country but I’m treated like I’m a none human when I ask for my rights.
I don’t care what kind of visa I can get for my husband, emergency visa, special visa, humanitarian visa, or work visa. A special bill written that my attorney says can be written. It’s time that he is brought into his country so we can be together, so he can drive his car, play with his dog, and be a tax payer again. There is no reason why he can’t be back into this country in under two weeks if someone in my government gave a rats tail about American people suffering and hurting.
IM DEMANDING ACTION AND ACTION NOW!

My heart really goes out to the children of Haiti but enough is enough with all the help that the state department and all the congressman and senators are doing and doing none stop you have US citizens that are hurting to!
There are 35,000 plus Americans that have been trying to sponsor their loved ones into this country, you are handing out Humanitarian visas like water what about us? I have been waiting for the uniting American families act to be passed. The bill is now stalled in committee.
The main reason why the bill is stalled is because of the Latin caucus. This is becoming a known fact that they want all the illegal immigrations to be able to get green cards, but we are citizens of this country we pay taxes, and once again we are being pushed to the back of the bus. You where elected on change and doing the right thing, not like the last President that did nothing but wreck this country and the world, well it really looks like the Democratic Party is becoming more and more like the Republican Party ever day. On the democratic parties web site under immigration reform the uniting American families act isn’t listed, noting about anything about gay issues are listed in that issue. There is nothing listed on the White house’s web site under Immigration Nothing.
I’m now demanding not asking for a Humanitarian visa for myself and all the other US citizens that have been waiting for the UAFA to be passed. It’s only fair now, we might not be homeless or hungry but we are hurting and suffering needlessly, and some of your citizens can’t live in this country because of you and your policy’s toward gay immigration rights.

Once again my heart does go out to the kids of Haiti and all the people that are hurting that need our help, we are Americans and open up our hearts when we see scenes like we are on the TV. BUT, when congressman’s and senators are opening up cases so American parents that started the adoptions can bring their kids into the country what about people that have been fighting none stop to bring our lovers into this country?
I want the special visas for the children of Haiti stopped till we can sponsor our loved ones into this country. I want all special bills stopped by congressman and senators stopped till we can get special bills passed to bring our loved ones into this country. I want the hospital flights stopped into this country because the ones that are brought in will get visas to stay. I want my country to help its own citizens first before other people in this world with visas.
President Obama said we will not forget about the people of Haiti but he has forgotten to take care of US citizens that are waiting to bring our loved ones into this country! Congressman and senator and the Democratic Party, and Republican Party have forgotten about its own citizens.
Either give us special bills, or specials visas till the Uniting American families act is passed and we can bring our loved ones into this country, some of us have been fighting for over 10 years now. What about us?
We demand action and we demand action now!

Miami, FL, United States (AHN) – Catholic Charities and various other South Florida groups are planning a massive airlift to transport thousands of Haitian children left orphaned following Tuesday’s tragic earthquake. According to reports the groups are going to use the same model used 40 years ago during Operation Pedro Pan.

Officials from the Archdiocese of Miami and other organizations have already located a temporary shelter in Broward County to house the children.
Officials have also admitted to working with the Obama administration to provide the children with humanitarian visas.
In December of 1960 Operation Pedro Pan was initiated to transport children away form Fidel Castro’s new Communist Cuba. The move came at a time communist indoctrination was being interjected into Catholic and private schools.
When it ended nearly two years later over 14,000 children between the ages of 5 to 17 were in the United States and had visa waivers. The Catholic church at the time promised to care for the children.

All Eyes on Senator Schumer

from act on Principles
The lesbian and gay community is closely watching Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to see if he includes LGBT families in his Senate version of Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) legislation. Senator Schumer is scheduled to introduce his bill within a couple of weeks. Will his bill be an inclusive bill?

The Democratic Party has a history of telling the LGBT community that we are part of their America, part of their vision for America. In fact, Senator Schumer himself as chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) made similar statements when fundraising in the gay community.

Now that Senator Schumer is responsible for the Senate version of CIR, we will find out whether all these words were hollow or if he meant them. Will Senator Schumer’s immigration bill demonstrate that gays are part of his America? Will it be inclusive of gays?

There are innumerable reasons why any Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill must include gay and lesbian couples. Here are just a few:
1. It’s really not comprehensive if it doesn’t include our families.

Haiti plus Clinton
No way am I going to be able to say this where people aren’t going to tack this wrong and I’m sorry about that. My heart does go out to all the people in Haiti. Everybody in the world should give whatever they can, cloths food, money or time. Give to UNICEF, the American Red Cross, to help with relief efforts, text “HAITI” to “90999″ and $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross, charged to your cell phone bill
Every time something happens on the news there is Clinton! When that 9 year old boy needed help from the government there was Clinton, when the people need help in Haiti she set up a toll free number for help in under 12 hours. Well we are US citizens that need help from the State Department and where is Clinton ,no where to be found!
Please write Clinton and tell her you want to sponsor your partner, tell her to start helping out US citizens that need help with the Uniting American families act. I did and you should too.

Portugal parliament votes to permit gay marriage

By BARRY HATTON, Associated Press Writer Barry Hatton, Associated Press Writer – 25 mins ago
LISBON, Portugal – Portugal’s parliament passed a bill Friday that would make the predominantly Catholic nation the sixth in Europe to permit gay marriage.

Conservative President Anibal Cavaco Silva is thought unlikely to veto the Socialist government’s bill, which won the support of all left-of-center parties. His ratification would allow the first gay marriage ceremonies to take place in April — a month before Pope Benedict XVI is due on an official visit to Portugal.

Right-of-center parties opposed the change and sought a national referendum on the issue, but their proposal was rejected and the government’s bill was passed by 125 votes to 99.

Gay rights campaigners applauded from the galleries, hugged and kissed outside the building and ate wedding cake.

“This law rights a wrong,” Prime Minister Jose Socrates said in a speech to lawmakers, adding that it “simply ends pointless suffering.”

Socrates said the measure is part of his effort to modernize Portugal where homosexuality was a crime until 1982. Two years ago his government lifted Portugal’s ban on abortion, despite church opposition.

Gay marriage is currently permitted in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Norway. Canada, South Africa and six U.S. states also permit it.

Sir:
I would like to get an answer from you and not one of your interns or one of your secretaries but an answer from my President. No I’m not asking for an answer but I am demanding an answer from a tax paying American! Not only that I gave you good hard earned money.
I would like to know why I had to go to Canada to marry my life partner, and now I can’t bring him into this country? Tell me why? In your words why the United States government not only hates me but also every person that is in a loving gay and bi-national relationship?
The first draft of the immigration reform act was written up and there is nothing, nothing in it about Bi-National couples? You are willing to give illegal’s a green card but not my married husband? There is something very un-American in this.
At this point I don’t care if you call it gay marriage, civil unions or quakes like a duck just so long as it has the same rights across the board.
I want to bring my husband (married in Canada) into the United States within the next two months and only you can make this happen! Let’s see a little action from you, more work less talk please.

The year 2010 gay rights

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Another year is about to come and go and because of my backward government I still can’t get my partner (married in Canada) into the United States. What a crime, it’s too bad that the civil right crimes against gay people will never be brought to a court in this country. The crimes are Defensive marriage act, the Uniting American family’s act, and all civil rights that belong to the gay population rights that shouldn’t have to be fought for but given freely being an American citizen. It’s either like being back in the 1950’s or early 60’s or maybe more like the old Soviet Union. The only thing is we can talk out about our government but they don’t care and don’t listen to her people only the church and the hating right wing.
We have to thank people in our government like Nancy Pelosi, Luis Gutierrez, and congressman and senators like Peter king. Peter King who believes totally in the Bush doctrine, who could care less that people are really hurting, but why should he care, right. You call Peter kings office and ask about DOMA and UAFA and they can’t answer you and they don’t return your faxes or phone calls, nothing! Nancy Pelosi who knows that the UAFA is sitting in committee but will not bring it out, knowing that it could take away so much pain and suffering for so many people. I heard that she feels that there isn’t enough support with enough senators for the bill, but without trying how does she really know, right? Luis Gutierrez who knows about the UAFA but left us out of his bill, we all know why he didn’t want to hear from the extreme right wing. People say that he stands for gay rights but when you leave an important gay issue out of a major peace of law how much could he stand for gay rights and ending so much suffering. He’s basically willing to give citizenship to illegal’s in this country but nothing for gay peoples fight to bring their loved ones into this country.
This is what we have to battle in the year 2010, it’s going to be a long hard battler and it’s all up hill. Find a grass roots group to join like out4immirgation on yahoo, or join the impact, give your money to the little groups who really need your support, before you give money to the HRC and Immigration Equ. Ask what have they really done last year and what are they promising to do in the year 2010? Think long and hard and give to the grass roots groups before the larger ones because the grass roots groups are people like you and me suffering throw this, but the larger ones are mainly looking out for their pay checks. A point in case the HRC and Immigration EQU. Is closed for the holidays how do you close down for over a week if you are really fighting for civil rights?
I don’t care if a senator or congressman support one bill and not another one, you are either with us totally or you are against us, remember that we can’t afford to cut anyone any slack in this battle for our rights as Americans!
Things for you to do is write everyone you can think of, call everyone you can think of. No matter how crazy it might seem to you write them. Call or write your local news paper and TV station go visit your congressman and senator. This war must be won and won soon it’s up to us!
5 years ago I made a promise to at that time my love now my husband that I would get him back into this country I have never lied to him or miss lead him. This is the year that we can win if we dig our heals in and fight like this is it. 9th inning 2 strikes batter is up. We can do it!

A foot note here
that the Executive Director of Immigration Equ. says there where open all week long, but when I called I was told everyone was out till after the holidays

Roy –
I just got your phone message, which ended up in the wrong mailbox. I hope you’ll correct the misinformation on your blog, as Immigration Equality has been open all week. I’m sorry I can’t talk today, but our communications director, Steve Ralls, could talk with you next week.

Latin America sees its first same-sex marriage

CNN world
Buenos Aires, Argentina (CNN) — Less than one month after a Buenos Aires court derailed the marriage of Alex Freyre and Jose Maria di Bello, the couple wed Monday at the southern tip of Argentina, making it the first same-sex marriage in Latin America.

“As a couple, we dreamed of marrying for a long time,” Freyre told the state-run Telam news agency.

Their marriage was hailed as a victory by gay rights groups in Argentina, though it was unknown whether the legality of their marriage would face any challenges.

Sir:
I would like to know how this country can let a terrorist into this country and my government can help a 9 year old boy into this country but when I ask for help to get my life partner(married in Canada) into this country I can’t even get an answer from my elected government offices?
There is something very wrong with this. Is it because every single newspaper and TV station got into it about the 9 year old that the state department, a congressman, Hilary Clinton, an Ambassador but when I want to sponsor my married partner into this country no help at all. Do I have to get newspapers and TV station involved in my story? There is something very wrong with this picture, when a US citizen has to get married in another country and my own country will not even let me sponsor him.
An embassy gives a visa to a known terrorist and I can’t get my life partner into this country? What’s wrong with this picture? I can tell you why, the plan fact is that they do not do there jobs. You are given less than 4 minutes to proof that you should get a visa, but if the interviewer has to do something like call a police department or has to make a phone call they don’t it’s either yes or no in less than 4 minutes. Anyone that has gone throw it knows that what I’m saying is true. If you stumble on an answer it’s an automatic no visa. Plus with me it’s a gay issue and immigration issues something that my government is afraid to deal with. As far as I can see most of the elected offices in my country are bigots or afraid of the church or Republican Party.
I’ve asked my congressman and senator for help Peter king doesn’t answers you and my senator says no special bills. Neither would even help to get him a vacation visa to come visit me here, or see our dog and drive his car, yes he has a car in his name and on the auto insurance policy. I hate to us a saying but it’s true, I do pay taxes and when my life partner was doing an internship here he was paying federal taxes. Why does my life have to have the church sayings and the Republican Party’s hatred toward gay people tell me who I should marry and why do they stand in my way with living with the person I want to live with? What happen to the separation of state and church and all men are created equal?
I asking for help to bring my life partner into this country and yes we are legal married in Canada and about 19 other countries in the free world. In the past I asked for an answer and never got one now as a US taxpaying citizen I’m demanding an answer from my government.
I’m also going to ask the Canadian government for a temporary work permit for my life partner (married in Canada) and myself till there is a way to sponsor my partner into the United States. By the way my life partner had to finish his college up in Canada because of a lying American embassy in Asia and an embassy that wouldn’t do their job!
Thank you

Gays and Lesbians in the Cold on Immigration Reform Bill

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

Gays and Lesbians in the Cold on Immigration Reform Bill

from: www.towleroad.com
The “comprehensive” immigration reform bill introduced this month does not include gays and lesbians.
“The lawmaker said Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), who has led the House effort on comprehensive immigration reform, initially ‘didn’t want to deal with it. At all.’ Then he tried to work out a ‘stupid’ compromise whereby the same-sex partner provisions would be in the bill but they wouldn’t take effect for five or six years, said this Member. ..Gutierrez denied that he wanted to keep gay and lesbian language out of his bill. ‘That’s just not true,’ he said, pointing to his long-standing record of supporting the gay community. The real issue, he said, is that same-sex partner matters have not come up in past immigration reform debates and people are still figuring out how to bring the two camps together. ‘There has never been a serious, in-depth discussion between the gay and lesbian community and the immigrant community. It’s never existed,’ Gutierrez said. ‘It’s a new conversation, but not one that I’m fearful of. I welcome it.
