US endorses UN gay rights text

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration on Wednesday formally endorsed a U.N. statement calling for the worldwide decriminalization of homosexuality, a measure that former President George W. Bush had refused to sign.

The move was the administration’s latest in reversing Bush-era decisions that have been heavily criticized by human rights and other groups. The United States was the only western nation not to sign onto the declaration when it came up at the U.N. General Assembly in December.

“The United States supports the U.N.’s statement on human rights, sexual orientation and gender identity and is pleased to join the other 66 U.N. member states who have declared their support of the statement,” said State Department spokesman Robert Wood.

Open letter to President Obama

You have been calling for equal rights for everyone in the united states, it’s time that you put your money where your mouth is and show the gay population of this once great country that you mean every thing that you say! So far we have seen nothing!

We had help get you into office throw giving money till it hurt and worked in your offices for free because we belived in you, but so far you have done nothing but let us down! Isn’t it time that you not only show the gay populuation of this country that your word is your bond, but also show the rest of the world that you stand behind everything that you say, and whats listed on your website. http://www.whitehouse.gov/agenda/civil_rights/

Personal I need you to get off your butt along with the congress and senate and pass the Uniting fasmilies act once and for all! This will help reunite gay couples that have been forced to leave there country to be with their loved ones, or let people that are living underground to be able to hold their head up high!

President Obama its also time to stop the church from controling this country! One more thing you need to fully lift the ban on people trying to get into this country with HIV. The ban is still in place!!!!

Washington Post endorses UAFA

THE UNITING American Families Act would allow gay and lesbian Americans and permanent residents to sponsor their foreign-born partners for legal residency in the United States. The bill, introduced last month in the Senate by Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and in the House by Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), would add “permanent partner” and “permanent partnership” after the words “spouse” and “marriage” in relevant sections of the Immigration and Nationality Act. If passed, it would right a gross unfairness.
