To Congressman Peter King

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Hello Congressman peter king.

I’m writing to you again for help in a matter that affects over 70,000 people and half of that number is American citizens. It’s called the Uniting Families act. I need your help in either co-sponsoring it or sponsoring it. The law if ever passed would level the playing field so people like me could bring there loved ones into the USA.

I know that you are NOT fair when it comes to gay rights and from what I have seen would rather we go away. Plus you and your staff never seem to answer e-mails. I’m going to wait to see if you answer me, plus I want to post your e-mail on my blog and pass it along to the HRC, and Immigration EQU.
I’m waiting for your help and your answer.

Thank you

Right to Petition Government (The)

To understand the definition of the concept, right to petition government, one must first understand where this concept originates. The right to petition is one of the fundamental freedoms of all Americans, and is documented in the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

The First Amendment consists of five “freedoms,” which are: Religion, Free Speech, Free Press, Assembly, and Petition. The Petition section of the first amendment, also commonly referred to as the Petition Clause, states that “People have the right to appeal to government in favor of or against policies that affect them or in which they feel strongly. This freedom includes the right to gather signatures in support of a cause and to lobby legislative bodies for or against legislation,” (Copley First Amendment Center) (2). A more simple definition of the right to petition, is “the right to present requests to the government without punishment or reprisal. This right is guaranteed in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

To Do Right away, lets get our butt’s in gear!!!!!

People, it’s going to be up to us the get the Uniting Families act started up again! We lost last year because HRC and Immigration Equ. Wouldn’t help force congressman and senators to bring it to a vote, they just want our money. So people it’s up to us to drive every congressman and senator crazy with e-mails and fax’s and phone calls. Get in gear, lets bring our loved ones back into the USA and lets bring home our brothers and sisters that have to live out of country to be with there lovers!
We have to thank Join the impact for adding us to there fight for gay marriage!

You can start here Join the Impact has started a write President Barack Obama, they have a simple click and print the letter so you don’t have to even write it!

Open Letter to Barack Obama

TEXT OF THE LETTER:

Dear President Obama,

Congratulations on your historic and inspiring victory. Your lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender citizens, along with families, friends, and heterosexual allies, would like to welcome you to the White House. We are thrilled to see that true change has come to this country.

During your election campaign you wrote an open letter to us, making it clear that you were committed to gaining ‘full equality for the millions of LGBT people in this country.’ In that letter you asked for our vote and promised to:
• Repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and ensure that states treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws
• Enact a fully inclusive Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) to outlaw discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity
• Repeal ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’
• Enact the Matthew Shepard Act to outlaw hate crimes against our community
• Confront the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the stigma surrounding it
• Amend the Uniting American Families Act to afford same-sex couples the same rights and obligations as married couples in our immigration system

We come to you as esteemed citizens of the United States of America in need of equal protections under the law for all families. The LGBT community is part of this diverse country, but do not share the same rights as their heterosexual brothers and sisters. In the spirit of family, respect, and of course, hope, we will work with you to make these promises become a reality.

We paid attention to the statements you made during your campaign, and we voted for you. Now, as you take office, we ask something in return. Please keep your promises to the LGBT community and provide the leadership needed to achieve true equality for all Americans.

Sincerely,
Your Fellow Americans

Trust me I understand how people are afraid to sign anything ,that THEY ARE AFRAID THEY OR THERE LOVED ONES WILL BE DEPORTED, BUT PEOPLE we have to be counted and herd from!!!!!!!!

Keep in the back of your mind, if you don’t write, if you don’t call, if you don’t join groups like Join the impact, then the Christian right wing bible thumping bigots have won! It’s your rights that you are fighting for. Remember live liberty and the pursuit of happiness. : John Hancock:
