We want to thank everyone who has participated in the massive emailing campaign to Congress demanding that articles of impeachment be filed immediately for George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Alberto Gonzalez and other officials.

We have to keep the pressure up on all levels and you can be directly involved as a volunteer, organizer or financial contributor or as all three.

The impeachment movement in New England and New York is joining with the anti-war movement in two very important mass demonstrations under the theme “End the War, Impeach Bush Now.”

The first demonstration will bring together thousands of people from New England and New York on May 23 when Bush is scheduled to give a major address at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. Buses and car caravans are coming to New London from Hartford and New Haven, CT; Portland, Maine; Boston; Plymouth, New Hampshire; Cape Cod, New Paltz, NY; New York City and elsewhere.

The second demonstration will take three days later when Dick Cheney gives the commencement address to West Point’s graduating ceremony.

AIDS Walk New York 2007

aids walk

Last year, with everyone’s compassion to show how much we cared about AIDS patients in our fragile community and to stop this epidemic, I raised money around $400 in two weeks. Again, thank you very much for everyone’s support.
This year, I raise my fundraising goal to $1,000 and beyond. Even though AIDS Walk New York 2007 will not occur until May 20, to have a head start, I decide to send out the donation form one and half month earlier.

This how it works; I will be the one who walks (and also donates) on May 20 (and of course everyone is welcomed to walk with me on that day as well) and you pledge whatever amount to sponsor my walk. All money that I raise will go to the AIDS Walk New York and they will distribute that money to the HIV related organizations in the tri-states areas in order to fight against AIDS and to improve the lives of thousands of men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS, and those at greatest risk for infection.

Every week I will summarize how much money I have received through this website and publicly thank those generous individuals to sponsor my walk and fight against AIDS.

In 2006, more than 45,000 people, a crowd as diverse as the city itself, participated in AIDS Walk New York and raised a record-breaking sum of more than $6.7 million.

This year let’s break another record and show everyone around us how much we care about our friends and community.

Please forward this website to your friends and family and encourage them to sponsor this great event!!

Thank you very much

We’re expecting Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) to reintroduce the bill in the U.S. House within the next month or so. While we don’t currently have specific information on when the Senate will introduce its bill, we’re hearing that Sen. Leahy will be the lead sponsor on the bill.

Please e-mail Rep. Jerrorld Nadler and thank him and show your support!

UNITING AMERICAN FAMILIES ACT

UNITING AMERICAN FAMILIES ACT how it would work from HRC

How will the measure work?
Once the measure is enacted, bi-national same-sex couples will have to meet the same requirements as bi-national, married couples. Some requirements include providing proof of the relationship — including affidavits from friends and family or evidence of financial support.
The UAFA will apply the same standards to same-sex couples that the United States applies to opposite-sex couples where one member is seeking to bring a foreign partner into the country. As with current immigration laws for married couples, the UAFA would impose harsh penalties for fraud, including up to five years in prison and as much as $250,000 in fines. In addition, if the partnership is dissolved in less than two years, the legal immigrant status of the partner would be revoked.
Under the measure, a permanent partner is any person 18 or older who is:
1. in a committed, intimate relationship with another adult 18 or older in which both parties intend a lifelong commitment;
2. financially interdependent with that other person;
3. not married to, or in a permanent partnership with, anyone other than that other person; and
4. unable to contract with that person a marriage cognizable under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
What is the status of the bill?
UAFA will be reintroduced in the House and Senate in the 110th Congress. In the 109th Congress, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) introduced the measures. The House bill had 116 cosponsors, and was referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary. The Senate version had 14 cosponsors and was referred to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary.

Hillary Clinton and congressman Peter King

I’ve spent the morning trying to get an answer from either person about the uniting families act. No one in their office knows anything about it. All said they would get back to me but no one has.
Hilary Clinton just might be the USA next president and it’s up to us to push the point, so please contact her office and say get off your high horse and get the law passed!
